the Gariel....

As I could never express myself as well as the ones writing on the Classic FM internet page, I will only share the article with you, about this young, very very talented and obviously beautiful on the inside and out young lady:
Nicola Benedetti:
www.telegraph.co.uk
All I have to add to this great article is that I loved the name of the Stradivarius she plays: the Gariel.....it just sounded very......Tolkien, Lord of the rings - like in my ears.....maybe because it sounds similar to Galadriel??? Anyways, this is a name I will definetly remember from now on...

I  have been listening to Classic FM for these two past days...I don't know how I'll be coping with rock from Thursday on..since we're "biking" off towards Nurenberg...to see our friends for a weekend of rock music and nice German chit - chat....
Bisous and have a great great weekend!

obligatory reading...

I just found out about a new book written by Dan Brown, book which I abolutely have to get my hands on! Especially after reading this article about it! I have to add I am not a fan of Dan Brown's novels, but the synopsis made in that article from The Catholic World Report just woke my curiosity. I just have to read it to see if I get the same idea....
source

I just can't help but render part of that article here, for I laughed and laughed while reading it...and just had to share...

"Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code, having written what for lack of a mightier term we must call a novel, a novel that proved that John the Apostle was a girl, Mary Magdalene a helpless goddess, and a hypotenuse an African water buffalo—having revealed for millions the lavish colors of the frescoes in Notre Dame de Paris (there are no frescoes in Notre Dame de Paris), the grim austerity of Spanish Cathedrals (Spanish Cathedrals are notorious for baroque exuberance), and the deep mystery of the Golden Ratio (every schoolboy knew about the Golden Ratio)—having shown the world that he could write a novel about art, theology, and Christian history while knowing nothing about art, theology, and Christian history, except what he could glean from the covers of matchbooks and obiter dicta from Cher—having shown how much you can do if you do not bother to open an ordinary encyclopedia, this Dan Brown, I say, this man of our time and of no time, has now written a novel about the greatest poet who ever lived, Dante. "

Just too awesome, right? and there's much more... I just have to congratulate the author, Prof. Anthony Esolen, for saying it plain and saying it true!
So, next to my huge to read list, I added another one, just for the sake of curiosity. It will just have to wait, for I am going today to a baptism ceremony somewhere 300 km away from Timisoara, and will be back just on Sunday, and next Thursday I'm off to Germany for the High Voltage motorcycle friends festival !!! Yupeee!!!
Have a great weekend!
Bisous!

food for thy soul...

I just stumbled upon this article on my favourite radio station site; because I was mad that my Winamp has gone berzerk and I can't listen to Classif FM anymore. Anyways, I will have to dig deeper into this problem, I am really not a tech wizard, I hate searching and searching for the right solution, but when it involves stuff like this, when I can't listen to something I want, then I get stubborn and dig and dig to find the solution....
Anyway, did you know that some of the best and most awesome classical music pieces were inspired by flowers???

like Leo Delibes' opera "Lakmé":

...inspired by the "Duet" Dhalia:

Frederick Delius' "Walk to the Paradise Garden" :
inspired of course, by the Parisian Gardens:
credits
Tchaikowsky's "Walz of the Flowers" :
inspired by no particular flower, but on the same page....

Then there's Giacomo Puccini's "Crisantemi":
 ...inspired, of course, by Chrysanthemes:
source
Then there's Gabriel Fauré's "Les Roses d'Ispahan":
...inspired by roses, of course:
source

Then there's Herbert Howells' "A spotless Rose" which is somewhat more interesting, the verses come from an anonymus writer...and were put on music by several composers...
Have I told you I love choir music? those many voices interwining....absolutely divine!

Then there's Debussy's "Bruyeres"... which means heathland, field...etc
Another one of my all time favourite operas is Carmen, by George Bizet, and the passage "La Fleur que tu m'avais jetee" this is one that I literally know by heart some of the passages... I chose Pavarotti's
Then the article speaks of  a beautiful Irish folk song  gathered into a collection by Benjamin Britten...have I mentioned this genre is one of my all-time fave?

Then there's Schumann's "Dichterliebe"...translated something like Love in verses, or Verses of Love...beautifully talking about the month of May, with buds bursting, with flowers and all that...and the romantic lines "from my tears spring flowers"...thi is trully a wonderful song:

This list goes on and on and on...as nature is the most wonderful muse there can be, and next comes love...The article refers to much more pieces, but I didn't want to make the longest post ever...if anybody would like to hear all the songs inspired by flowers and nature in general, you can find them all on my youtube channel: annek1983.

In the meantime, I have accessto Classic FM also!! Yupeeee!

As my post writing stretches during the whole day, I have enough time to chage moods, and right now I am thinking of the poor people in Oklahoma, my heart goes out to them, but all I can do is pray for them....
Let's appreciate the spiritual and material things we have, and never forget it can all dissappear in a blink of an eye.

jump for joy!

let's make the best of our lives, let's just have fun, relax, read, ride, sing, run, whatever makes us happy, and never regret what we have done, but only what we didn't do...

http://www.all-hd-wallpapers.com
and try to do it, for we only live once!
Seek and you shall find, right? Then let us start seeking for that one thing that makes us happy at the moment, and after we have it, let's just start all over again, because life should never be dull, boring, or incomplete. Let's search for that one thing that completes us...then search for more...
Life has something in store for all of us, we just have to have the courage to make the next step...that is something I am working on right now, and working hard just to envisage it at the moment....
Hope my post isn't to boring, or to crazy, and trully wish everyone a happy happy weekend!
Bisous!

funny stuff...

at least for me...we had a great time coming back from Raca two weeks past...our friend, Tibi's motor broke down, would only go pushed...and so I came up with the brilliant idea to take his gf with us on M's bike...and this is what resulted...
Bad ass bikers, right??

We even had a cool picnic on the roadside...we had red eggs from easter, and chicken meat...and cheese...(btw; thanks sis for that!) and of course we made an awesome view...7 bikers on the side of the road...eating...and laughing like crazy! It took us 5 hrs to get to Timisoara, on a road which would usually take 1.5 hrs....but it was worth it!
We had to stop in a village and ask for some wires...and judging by the number of the spectators we had...it must have been the entire population....we girls were laying on the grass by the road...while the guys tried...and tried...and tried...It's nice to be a girl once in a while....:D
In another order of ideas...we have some puppies down in the parking lot...somebody threw them there probably because they thaught that someone would take pitty on them...and from seven at the beginning there were only four last week, from which one girly was very puffy, but full of fleas and ticks...and so Tunde and I decided to give her a bath before applying the parasites solution...

...there she is in Tunde's sink....when we wanted to finish...there was no more water running...so I had to pack Puffy up and bring her to my place to rinse...then I packed her back and brought her back to Tunde's (have I ever mentioned we live in two separate apartment buildings facing eachother?? somewhere on the field, at one end of Timisoara city??)...and blow-dried the poor thing....she took an instant nap afterwords.....
...and I was catalogued by my neighbours as the craziest woman alive....if that could be put to a superlative...since they probably already think that about me...
...but just look at that face! Anyways, she dissapeared...probably somebody liked her enough to take her home...I hape you have a wonderful life Puffy!

On the same note...I also found this photo on the internet...isn't this the epitome of sorrow??? Poor guy....you really don't like bathing, huh???

This would be all, have a wonderful Thursday...'cause it smells like the weekend guys!!!!
Bisous!

have you ever felt....Romantic?

Because that's how I am feeling right now....even I am grinning while writing this....

I am not a romantic person...I seldom dream with my eyes open, except when I'm reading some book I like....usually history or fiction-history related...but right now I'm trapped...

Since last weekend I've been only listening to ballads (well ...except Imagine Dragons Radioactive), and on top of it all I'm watching TV shows like..
...so I guess I'm going crazy or just entering a creative mood...which would be very good...as you can see I've not been very inspired lately...
Each time I feel this lack of inspiration I think of these two verses of my favourite Romanian writer: Tudor Arghezi:

"E usor a scrie versuri                      It's easy to write verses
Cand nimic nu ai a spune"                When you have nothing to say

and this is the reason why I prefer not to write if I don't really have something interesting to say, share or ask...like today..when I just wanted to share my strange mood ...

My secret ambition (which will not be that secret anymore after this) is to write a book...well, more than just one...and good books for that matter. I have the means...I own the imagination, the will, the resources...I just lack the subject...what should it be about?????

Tough decision and tougher market...in the meantime I'm stuck with my so-called romantic mood...

What does romantic mean, anyways?
